SAINT LEO, Fla. – On Monday, May 4, the Saint Leo University athletic department named student-athletes Izzy LaRoche (softball) and Jackson Wohlers (baseball) as the Jimmy John's Lions of the Week. The award is recognizing these student-athletes for their performances from April 27 - May 3.

Izzy LaRoche powered a potent Saint Leo lineup over the weekend as the top-ranked Lions completed a series sweep of Lynn and clinching a Sunshine State Conference Championship. LaRoche posted a .625/.667/.875 slash line across the three games and continues to rank among the SSC leaders, sitting second in batting average (.425) and fourth in both slugging percentage (.725) and OPS (1.180). She went 2-for-3 in both games of Friday's doubleheader, recording two RBI, a double, and a run scored in game one, before adding a walk, a stolen base, and a run in game two. In the series finale, LaRoche delivered an RBI double in the Lions' 10-2 run-rule victory to extend the win streak to 37. 

Wohlers helped the Lions secure the first game of Saturday's doubleheader as he pitched 2.0 innings and held the Fighting Knights hitless in relief. Additionally, he recorded one strikeout and collected his first save on the year.

For the 2025–26 season, Saint Leo University Athletics is proud to partner with Jimmy John's to present a new weekly award recognizing student-athletes. The award will recognize athletic competition held from Monday to Sunday.

Over the years, the brand expanded rapidly, surpassing 2,600 locations nationwide by 2025 and even venturing internationally with openings in Seoul, Toronto, and Dubai. In 2019, Jimmy John's became part of Inspire Brands, the restaurant group that also owns Arby's, Dunkin' Donuts, and more.
