SAINT LEO, Fla. – On Monday, February 23, the Saint Leo University athletic department named student-athletes Isabella Gebinine (women's lacrosse) and Fred Filsaime (men's track & field) as the Jimmy John's Lions of the Week. The award is recognizing these student-athletes for their performances from February 16-22.

Freshman Isabella Gebinine was instrumental in #12 Saint Leo's 23-12 non-conference victory over #17 Rollins, controlling possession and setting the tone defensively at the draw. Gebinine recorded nine draw controls, leading the Lions and helping Saint Leo secure 26 total draw controls in the game, the second-most in program history. Her ability to consistently win possession limited Rollins' offensive opportunities and allowed the Lions to dictate tempo throughout the contest. In a top-20 matchup, Gebinine's dominance in the circle directly impacted the outcome and fueled Saint Leo's statement win over a nationally ranked opponent.
 

Freshman Fred Filsaime ran personal bests and placed top 10 in the 200m and 400m. Filsaime placed 11th in the 200 with a time of 22.41 and 6th in the 400m with a time of 49.88. Filsaime currently ranks 8th overall in the SSC rankings for the 200m, and 5th overall for the 400m. 
 

For the 2025–26 season, Saint Leo University Athletics is proud to partner with Jimmy John's to present a new weekly award recognizing student-athletes. The award will recognize athletic competition held from Monday to Sunday. 

Since launching in 1983 in Charleston, Illinois, with just a $25,000 loan from his father, Jimmy John Liautaud built his modest sandwich shop into the national chain known for its "Freaky Fast" delivery and fresh-baked bread. Over the years, the brand expanded rapidly, surpassing 2,600 locations nationwide by 2025 and even venturing internationally with openings in Seoul, Toronto, and Dubai. In 2019, Jimmy John's became part of Inspire Brands, the restaurant group that also owns Arby's, Dunkin' Donuts, and more.
