  • Was one of the elite fou-sport performers in Prep School during the 1940's
  • Was an All-State center on the football team as a sophomore and junior
  • Was on the track team for three years and captured the state championship in the javelin as a junior with a state record toss
  • Helped lead the basketball, football, and track teams to state championships his junior year in 1947
  • Was the catcher and played second base on the baseball team
  • Lettered in four sports his sophomore and junior years
  • Bill entered prep school in the eighth grade and his high school eligibility ended at the conclusion of his junior year. He served as an assistant football, baseball, and track coach his senior year
  • Was intramural swimming champion and also was a swimming an diving instructor as a senior
  • Served four years in the United States Army and retired after 30 years working for the Post Office and today is a very successful blueberry grower
  • Married for 53 years to wife Martha. The couple has four children, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren
