Dr. Cisco L. Johnson was one of the most accomplished players in Saint Leo College baseball history. A two-time All-Sunshine State ConferenceÂ
selection, he earned First Team honors as an outfielder in 1987 and Honorable Mention recognition at second base in 1985, in addition toÂ
Southwest Region honors. During the 1987 season, Johnson led NCAAÂ Division II with 96 stolen bases, establishing a Saint Leo single-seasonÂ
record that still stands. He posted a 93.2 percent stolen base success rate and averaged 1.96 stolen bases per game, ranking fourth all-time inÂ
NCAA history.
Johnson completed his career with 167 stolen bases, ranking second alltime at Saint Leo and fourth all-time in NCAA Division II career stolenÂ
bases. He recorded a career stolen base percentage of 89.3 percent and remains second all-time in runs scored (180), third in walks (143), andÂ
tied for fourth in triples (11). He was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1987 Major League Baseball Draft.
Following his collegiate and professional baseball career, Johnson served more than 27 years in the United States Army. His military honorsÂ
include the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, and three Meritorious Service Medals. He was named Drill Sergeant of the Year in 2003 andÂ
INSCOM Equal Opportunity Advisor of the Year in 2007.
