  • Gloria Garcia was a native and resident of Lakeland FL, entering Holy Name Academy in 1940
  • She was the basketball team's starting center/power forward her initial three years and switched to point guard and floor general as a senior
  • She helped lead the team to three Florida state championships 1942, '43, and '44
  • Led the team in scoring in regular season and the state tournament as both a junior and senior
  • Florida Southern College was next and she was the team's starting point guard for four years 
  • After receiving her degree in Elementary Education, she married George Fouts and served the public schools of Lakeland, FL as an respected elementary school teacher for 41 years. 
  • She is now retired and resides in Lakeland with her husband
