  • Graduated from Saint Leo College in 1984 with a degree in Sport Management. His GPA was 3.10. he was the first Sport Management graduate at Saint Leo
  • Named to Dean's List at Saint Leo in 1984
  • Graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters Degree in Exercise and Sport Science in 1986
  • Was a two-year starter on the baseball team in 1983 and 1984 after transferring from Santa Fe Community College
  • During his junior year made only one error as the starting center fielder in all 51 games as the team posted a 29-22 record. He led team in runs batted in (50) and stolen bases (18). He was second in official at-bats (205), runs scored (46) and base hits (68). He was third in batting average (.331), doubles (13), triples (two), total bases (89) and fourth in home runs (four)
  • As a senior he didn't make an error in 58 starts. Ricky helped spearhead the team to a school record 46 victories (46-13 overall), and was ranked No. 6 in the nation. The team also went 17-11 in Sunshine State Conference play. He led the team in home runs (12), runs batted in (55), total bases (135), hits (79), doubles (18) and official at-bats (226); was second in batting (.350), runs scored (65), and stolen bases (27)
  • Was selected to the All-Sunshine State Conference team both years and the All-District team as a junior and a senior
  • During the summer of his junior year he was picked on the Virginia Valley League All-Star team 
  • Was in charge of the New York Mets Spring Training facility from 1986-90
  • Played and coached one year of professional baseball (1990) in Fano, Italy
