  • The Detroit, MI native moved with her family to San Antonio, FL in 1939 and entered Holy Name Academy that year as a freshman
  • She lettered all four years as a starting point guard and floor leader for the basketball team
  • Betty spearheaded the team's drive to capture the state championship in 1942 and again in 1943
  • Was three-time All-State selection, being names to the select group as a sophomore, junior, and senior
  • Led the team in rebounding as a junior and senior and also was the top rebounder both years in the state tournament
  • After graduating from Holy Name, she remained close to Saint Leo, eventually serving as secretary to the President and, in the fullness of time, married Dr. Stephen Hermann.
  • The Hermann's remained loyal, supportive alumni of Saint Leo for the remainder of their lives.
  • Betty died February 10, 2010
