SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo Lions (16-9) were named the seventh-seed of the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis South Regional II on Tuesday night. The No. 7 Saint Leo Lions are set to face No. 2 Valdosta State Blazers (15-3) on Saturday, May 11 in Valdosta, Ga.

Under the direction of third-year head coach Chad Berryhill, the Green and Gold have gone all season ranked among the top-15 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. The Lions highlighted three consecutive weeks ranked among the ITA Top-5.

Saint Leo finished the regular season tied for third with Rollins and Embry-Riddle as all three programs recorded a 5-3 mark in Sunshine State Conference play. The Lions advanced to the SSC Championship as the third-seed due to conference tiebreakers and finished fourth in the championship taking a 4-2 loss in the consolation match to fourth-seed Rollins.

The Lions are led by Bruno Faletto at the first singles spot. The freshman from Santiago, Chile has put together a 19-3 first singles record defeating four nationally-ranked opponents. In second singles, Ghali Mensour, also a freshman from Caseblanca, Morocca, has tallied a 15-9 record. Aurel Ciocanu has proven to be a clinch player for the Lions in the three spot. The sophomore from Montreal, Quebec, Canada enters the NCAA postseason with a seven-match win streak on his way to a 17-6 third singles record.

The Green and Gold doubles teams hold a 36-34 season record. Ciocanu and Willem Van Den Akker have recorded a 9-7 first doubles record taking their last two matches together.
