Jul 16, 2026

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University Vice President of Athletics and Wellness Marcal Lazenby has announced the hiring of Noel Maurin as the university's new Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Tennis programs.

Maurin arrives at Saint Leo after spending the past four years at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), where he most recently served as Associate Head Coach for the Colonels' men's and women's tennis programs. During his tenure, he played an instrumental role in elevating both programs through player development, recruiting, academic success, and competitive achievement.

"We are thrilled to welcome Noel to the Saint Leo family," said Lazenby. "His passion for developing student-athletes, proven success in recruiting and player development, and commitment to building a championship culture make him an outstanding fit to lead our men's and women's tennis programs. We are excited for the future under his leadership."

At EKU, Maurin helped guide the men's program to unprecedented success, including the program's first national ranking, first nationally ranked victory, an appearance in the 2024 National Invitational Tennis Championship (NIT), and an undefeated 16-0 home regular season. His student-athletes earned multiple ASUN Conference Player of the Week honors, All-ASUN recognition, Freshman of the Year accolades, and Academic Team of the Year honors.

In addition to his on-court success, Maurin was heavily involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, practice planning, tournament operations, video analysis, community engagement, camps and clinics, and individualized player development.

Prior to EKU, Maurin spent three seasons at the University of Texas at Tyler, serving as both a graduate assistant and assistant coach. During his time with the Patriots, he helped lead the men's team to the 2022 Lone Star Conference Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Round of 16 while contributing to nationally recognized academic success for both programs.

"I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to join Saint Leo University," Maurin said. "Saint Leo has a proud tradition of excellence, and I am excited to work with our student-athletes to build a culture centered on competitive success, academic achievement, and personal growth. I look forward to becoming part of the Saint Leo community and helping our men's and women's tennis programs compete for conference and national championships."

Maurin earned a Master of Exercise Science in Sport Administration from Eastern Kentucky University in 2023 after completing a Master of Business Administration at UT Tyler in 2021. He received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Ottawa University Arizona in 2019, where he was also a collegiate tennis student-athlete.

Maurin will begin his duties immediately and will oversee all aspects of Saint Leo's men's and women's tennis programs, including recruiting, player development, scheduling, academic support, and community engagement.
