MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's golf team began the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Men's Golf Championship laser-focused, as the Lions ended the first round tied for first with a round score of 275 (-9) Sunday at Normandy Shores Golf Club.
Saint Leo is tied with host school Barry, leading by five strokes over Lynn (280, -4).
Juniors
Alex Heck,
Francois Cilliers, and
Jake Nash currently sit in the Top 10, as Heck and Nash are tied for second overall each with a round score of 68, -3. Cilliers shot a round score of 69, -2. Also in the Top 10 was Freshman
Mathieu Lafontaine, who was tied for tenth shooting 70, -1, highlighted by a round-ending Eagle.
Nash additionally is in a three-way tie with six birdies in the tournament, along with the best average on Par 3 courses (2.75).
