PETERSBURG, Va.
– The Saint Leo men's golf team turned in a strong second-round performance to move into fourth place at the 2025 Griffin Invitational, hosted at the Country Club of Petersburg. The Lions fired a team score of 285 on Monday, improving by 11 strokes from their opening round, for a 36-hole total of 581 (+5).
Freshman
Benjamin Morland paced the Lions with back-to-back rounds of 70 (-2), placing him in a tie for fourth overall at 140 (-4). Freshman
Micke Laurelli and sophomore
Ethan Keys each posted 147 (+3) across the first two rounds, good for a share of 24th place. Senior
Enzo Barbaglia rebounded from a first-round 77 (+5) with a 71 (-1) to sit at 148 (+4), while junior
Nicklas Illi matched Barbaglia's day-two 72 (E) to finish the day at 149 (+5).
Saint Leo also had four individuals competing. Seniors
Mathieu Lafontaine and
Ryan Letterly each posted top-31 positions, shooting 147 (+3) and 148 (+4), respectively. Freshman
Paul Steele turned in rounds of 83 and 74 to card a 157 (+13).
Palm Beach Atlantic leads the field at 565 (-11) on the team leaderboard while Reggie Fear from Eckerd leads the 86-golfer field with a 138 (-6).
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes at the Country Club of Petersburg.
