DENTON, Texas – The Saint Leo University Women's golf team maintained its position in third place, but a stunning, comeback run from #1 Dallas Baptist in Round 3 forced a share of third overall between the Lions and the host Patriots Tuesday afternoon at the Robson Ranch Wildhorse Golf Club.
The Green & Gold finished the day with a round score of 289, finishing with an overall score of 865, +1.
Sophomore
Cajsa Strandberg posted the best round score of the Lions' five (70), finishing tied for 18th overall with a final score of 217 (73/74/70). Sophomore
Maya Cote moved up the ranks with another round score of 71 to finish tied for 12th overall (215, -1).
Graduate
Elena Verticchio finished third overall with a final score of 208 (69/68/71, -8), just four strokes shy of the individual title. In the Rome, Italy native's DII debut, Verticchio finished the DBU Women's Classic tied for the most birdies throughout the event (15).
