GAINESVILLE, Ga. –
Francesca Santoni moved up two spots in round three of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship to place 30
th overall. Santoni, who was golfing as an individual, strung together scores of 75-76-77 for a total tally of 228 (+12) at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. Hours after finishing the national tournament, the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) named Santoni to the WGCA Division II All-American First Team, one of the elite 16 Division II golfers named All-American by the national organization.
During round one, Santoni registered a pair of birdies with four strokes at hole 14 and 16, both par fives. She handled hole 14 at 469 yards and hole 16 at 500 yards. Her opening day finished three over par with a score of 75 (6,004 total yards).
In the second day of action, the senior earned her third birdie of the tournament at hole four, another par five at 452 yards. She finished the second round four over par with a score of 76. Santoni entered the final round in 32
nd place with a combined score of 151 (75-76), seven strokes over par.
The Torbole Sul Garda, Italy product jumped ahead by two places in the final round to finish the national championship in 30
th place as an individual. She turned in back-to-back birdies repeating a tremendous showing at hole four with four strokes at the par five of 452 yards. She continued to hole five, a par four, and used only three strokes to handle the 340 yards.
Santoni wrapped up the 2022 season as a NCAA Division II National contender, WGCA All-American First Team member, Sunshine State Conference First Team member, and two-time invitational winner taking the Lady Moc Classic and World Golf Invite.
