SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its 2019 All-Academic Awards on Thursday naming the Saint Leo men and women's tennis programs ITA All-Academic Teams while honoring 16 individual Lions as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The 16 Lions selected as Scholar-Athletes were
Anna Marija Bukina,
Georgia Dobell,
Nina Furmaniak,
Madeleine Gauthier,
Andrea Ivanovic and
Marta Vicens Miquel from the women's team while the men's side highlighted
Bruno Babic,
Nicolas Bacella,
Lahcen Boujadi,
Aurel Ciocanu,
Bruno Faletto,
Noel Kunz,
Ghali Mensour,
David Perez,
Willem Van Den Akker and
Leonardo Vega.
The Green and Gold tennis teams are among 940 programs who were awarded the all-academic honors boasting a team GPA of 3.20 or higher. The 2019 Saint Leo men's tennis team led the athletic department in the classroom earning the highest GPA among the 21 Green and Gold programs putting up a 3.65 team GPA. The women followed as number two in the department as the school's leading women's team GPA in the form of a 3.58.
The ITA Scholar-Athlete individual title was limited to letter winners who earned a minimum 3.50 GPA during the academic year. They also were required to have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
