SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 2018 Google Cloud Academic CoSIDA All-America Division II At-Large Teams were announced Monday featuring Thomas Grinberg and Jaime Bueno of the Saint Leo men's tennis team. Grinberg was named to the Academic All-America first-team while Bueno was inked as a second-team member. To be nominated, student-athletes were required to be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. Grinberg and Bueno were selected by a national vote comprised of the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).
Grinberg, a senior Economics major, held the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) No. 1 ranking throughout the entire 2018 season. The Vincennes, France product compiled a 62.20 ITA average going 21-1 on the season, recording a perfect 7-0 mark among the Sunshine State Conference competition. In doubles, he and Vincent Suillerot went 20-3 at first singles earning an ITA No. 2 doubles ranking posting a 49.74 average.
Bueno, an Economics major, closed his senior campaign ranked No. 41 by the ITA with a 10.0 average. The product out of Santiago, Chile registered a 19-1 singles record along with a 19-4 in doubles action. The 2018 honor marks Buenos second-time being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American after his 2017 third-team selection.
