Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The No. 4 Saint Leo men's tennis team stayed perfect, now 14-0 overall, topping the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics #1 Keiser 5-4 on Friday.
Willem Van Den Akker finished the job earning no. 6 clinch 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 battle.
"What a battle today with two very good teams," expressed head coach
Chad Berryhill. "We played good doubles but found ourselves down 1-2. Singles was a dog fight but our guys stepped up once again when we needed to."
No. 9 duo, no. 1
Thomas Grinberg and
Vincent Suillerot snagged the lone double win, 9-7.
Both Grinberg and Suillerot won their singles battles. No. 1, Grinberg closed the no. 1 battle; 6-0, 4-6, 7-6. No. 31, Suillerot outplayed his no. 2 opponent 6-1, 6-2. No. 37,
Jaime Bueno rolled out a no. 3 victory; 6-1, 6-1.
Willem Van Den Akker saw through the win at no. 6. The sophomore from Voorhout, Netherlands showcased a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 decision to preserve the Lions' perfect record.
Saint Leo has five more contests against Sunshine State Conference teams to close out the 2018 regular season. No. 4 Saint Leo travels to No. 5 Lynn on Saturday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m.
