VALDOSTA, Ga. – Saint Leo junior Thomas Grinberg will play for the singles title at the 2017 ITA South Region Championship, which continued Sunday at Valdosta State University.
Grinberg, who was the top seed for the event, dispatched Barry's Carlos Gomez, 6-0, 6-2 in a semifinal match, after defeating UWF's Alfonso Castellano, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals. He will face West Florida's Serdar Bojadjiev in Monday's championship match.
Other Saint Leo results from the ITA South Region Championships:
- Vincent Suillerot got as far as the quarterfinal round where he was defeated 6-3, 7-6 (4) by West Florida's Serdar Bojadjiev. Suillerot defeated Valdosta State's Axel Holm, 7-6 (3), 6-4, and Florida Southern's Victor Ahlbeck, 6-1, 6-2, on his way to the semifinals.
- Francisco Aparicio reached the third round of the consolation bracket, where he was upended, 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 by Florida Southern's Alvaro Arias.
Competition in the ITA South Region Championship concludes on Monday, Sept. 25.
