EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Sophomore
Ronald Cheserek finished 53rd overall to pace Saint Leo men's cross country to a 30th-place finish at the 2017 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, held Saturday morning at Angel Mounds State Historic Site.
Cheserek crossed the finish line with a time of 32:13.4 in the 10K race, and was 53rd overall with 43 points.
Senior
Anthony Deleva placed 114th overall, 96th in points, with a time of 33:06.9, while freshman
Tadgh McGinty was the third Lion across the finish line in 34:55.2, placing 222nd overall, 196th in points.
Senior Joe Fuller was 235th overall, 208th in points, with a time of 35:16.5, while freshman
Ethan Markey was 238th overall after finishing in a time of 35:28.7, 211th in points, to round out the scoring runners for Saint Leo.
Sophomore
Tyler Pantley and junior
Joshua Sickinger were the pushers for Saint Leo. Pantley was 244th with a time of 36:00.0, while Sickinger was 247th and posted a time of 36:24.6.
Saint Leo finished with 754 points and was 30th out of 32 teams in the event. Adams State won the team championship with 44 points, while Grand Valley State was second with 64 points.
Tiffin's James Ngandu won top individual honors in the 10K event with a time of 30:18.8 – a full 34 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Grand Valley State's Zach Panning.
