SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's and women's swim teams each took first place in nine relay events to complete a sweep of visiting Florida Tech, Friday afternoon at the Bowman Aquatic Center.
The Saint Leo men downed Florida Tech by a score of 115-38, while the women won, 117-32. The meet format was a series of relays with no individual events.
In the men's events, Saint Leo turned in its top performance of the day in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of
Milosz Mikicin,
Henrik Dahrendorff,
George Veliadis, and
Christian Cioffi posting a time of 1:31.53 – approximately two seconds off the NCAA qualifying mark. The Lions were also within two seconds of the qualifying mark in the 200 Free Relay, when
Hunter Bains, Veliadis, Cioffi, and
Luka Vulic clocked a time of 1:23.82.
The Saint Leo women's team also had its best effort in the 200 Free Relay.
Natalia Garriock,
Karolina Dyrda, Mattie Shaver, and
Karina Kolb posted a time of 1:37.64, approximately three seconds off the NCAA qualifying time.
The Saint Leo women's swim team will be back in the pool on Saturday, Oct. 14, when it hosts Lynn University in a dual meet. The Saint Leo men's team will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 3, when both teams travel to Winter Park, Fla., to face Rollins College.
