Lions Victorious On Senior Day Against Florida Tech

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's swimming team hosted Florida Tech on Saturday, January 21 for the Lions senior day. The Lions were victorious against Florida Tech defeating the Panthers, 118.5-84.5.

The Green & Gold compiled eight first place finishes on the afternoon and 14 top three finishes.

After the senior celebration, Saint Leo kicked off the day earning a first place finish in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Nino Viallon, Carlos Nava, Lucas Minuer, and Devin Green touched the wall first at 1:35.04. Alexandr Pomozov, Gerardo Avila, Rommel Ferguson, Szymon Leszega placed third in the relay at 1:38.74.

Alex Clark was victorious in the first individual event of the afternoon earning first in the 1000 free with his time of 10:20.75. Green would follow suit earning first place honors in the 200 free at 1:44.17, while Nava would finish right behind him in second place at 1:48.10.

Lamar Rodov would continue the Lions momentum earning a first place finish in the 50 free with his time of 22.13. Viallon (1:54.77) and Clark (2:03.74) earned top two finishes for the Green & Gold in the 200 IM. Minuer earned his second first place finish of the afternoon in the 100 fly touching the wall at 50.61.

Leszega would secure a top finish in the 100 free with his time of 46.07, while Rodov finished right behind him claiming second at 48.75. Vaillon picked up another top finish in the 16th event of the afternoon, placing first in the 100 backstroke at 51.30. Alexandr Pomozov placed top three in the 100 backstroke with his time of 54.97.

Alex Clark would place second in the 500 Free touching the wall at 5:00.60.  Nava and Gerardo Avila would place second and third in the 100 breaststroke with their times of 1:01.06 and 1:01.85. The team of Minuer, Rodov, Leszega, and Green closed out the afternoon placing first in the 200 free relay at 1:25.06.

Up next the Lions will head to the Sunshine State Conference Championships, where they will compete at the Long Center from February 15-19.
