MELBOURNE, Fla. – A total of 136 Saint Leo student-athletes were named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2018 spring semester, including 15 perfect 4.00 GPA's, announced on Tuesday by the SSC office and Commissioner Ed Pasque. A total of 1,303 student-athletes across the SSC were honored with the Commissioner's Honor Roll where 238 had a perfect 4.0.Â
The Lions saw 15 individuals earn a perfect 4.00 in the spring in Earl Russell (Men's Basketball), Nikira Hooks (Women's Basketball), Izabell Skoogh (Women's Basketball), Mackenzie Wallace (Women's Swimming), Tyler Bauman (Baseball), Bailey Burk (Softball), Brittany Creamer (Softball), Samantha Tyler (Softball), CJ Stowell (Men's Lacrosse), Emma Crafton (Women's Lacrosse), Rebecca Halley (Women's Lacrosse), Marta Vicens Miquel (Women's Tennis), Marcus Crowe (Men's Golf), Vilde Eriksen (Women's Golf), and Amanda Jakobsson (Women's Golf) all finished with the elusive honor (names in bold).
Men's lacrosse led the way for the Green and Gold with 21Â honorees where baseball fell just behind with 17. Softball (16), Women's lacrosse (15) and Women's swimming (14) all fell next in line.Â
This spring's numbers break the previous SSC Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll records of 1,142 honored and 177 perfect grade-point-averages from 2017.
To be eligible for the Spring SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade-point-average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's golf, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, baseball, softball, and women's rowing were eligible for the fall honor roll.
Having won 104 Division II National Championships since the league was founded in 1975, SSC's student-athletes have proven to be successful in the classroom as well. For the seventh consecutive year, the SSC boasts an Academic Success Rate of 86-percent, which is first among all 24 Division II conferences.
