SAINT LEO, Fla. – Last week, the Saint Leo men's basketball team held its first Developmental Team Draft, to decide which members of the team will be representing Team White, coached by graduate assistant coach
Jordan Gill, or the Green Team, lead by graduate assistant coach
Elijah Ricketts.
"What a fun and exciting event for our Developmental team players to take part in", said head men's basketball coach
Spencer Henke. "These 32 athletes give their everything to our program and have bought into their developmental as college basketball players - so this was our way of giving each of them their moment. I am very excited to see their continued growth as they represent our program throughout the year. Special thanks to Marcal Lazenby for being the best commissioner we could have asked for, as well as
Michael Hayeck,
George Hillen, and
Cody Carmon for capturing each of these moments for our guys."
The draft served not only to balance the rosters but also as an opportunity to build competitiveness and camaraderie among the Lions. Players, coaches, and fans alike look forward to seeing how the unique identities of each team will unfold on the court. The White and Green Teams will now prepare for a season filled with internal competition, player growth, and the chance to showcase the depth of Saint Leo basketball.
The Green Team starts its season on November 1 as it travels to face Santa Fe at 2 p.m. while the White Team will begin its campaign on November 8 at home in the Saint Leo Wellness Center versus South Florida Tech.
