George Hillen

George Hillen joined the Saint Leo Athletic Department as the Manager of Athletic Communications in February 2024.

Before coming to the Sunshine State, Hillen was the Assistant Sports Information Director during the 2022-23 academic year at California University of Pennsylvania, a NCAA Division II member a part of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), while at Cal he served as the main contact for both men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, swimming, and men’s basketball. Additionally, Hillen traveled with the Vulcan baseball team to their conference tournament as a representative of the Cal Athletic Department and member of the sports information office.

Prior to Cal, Hillen was a graduate assistant in the athletic communications office at Westminster College (Pa.), serving as the secondary contact for Titans athletics. During his one-year tenure with Westminster, he had the opportunity to travel with the back-to-back-to-back Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Volleyball Champions to their NCAA Tournament match in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Hillen also represented the Westminster sports information office during the baseball and softball trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. As the Titan baseball team earned a spot in the PAC Championship Tournament, Hillen traveled with Westminster as the Titans finished runner-up in 2022. As a member of then-called College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), he attended the annual conference convention in the summer which was held in Las Vegas that year.

Hillen is a 2021 graduate of Saint Vincent College, where he earned a Bachelor’s in communication with a minor in marketing. While there, he was a member of the Bearcat football team all four years and was named one of the team’s captains during he senior campaign. As a work-study student in the sports information office from December 2018 to May 2021, Hillen helped the athletic department with gameday operations, website maintenance, and broadcasting while having the opportunity to work under Jeff Zidek and RJ Leisie, who served as the Sports Information Directors during Hillen’s time at SVC.
