#17 Men's Golf Scorch Field in Round 2 for Clubhouse Lead After Day 1

Feb 22, 2021

SAINT LEO, Fla. – After a long wait to start the season and following all CoVID protocols provided by the University to return to action, all the excitement on the course was shared distantly. No. 17 Saint Leo men's golf sees itself as the clubhouse leader with just 21 holes of the Saint Leo Invitational remaining. Round two Monday evening was halted due to darkness, where the players played 33 of the 36 scheduled holes. The Lions are sitting atop at 20-under par, 508, tied with no. 8 Lynn.

Saint Leo shot up four spots after a monstrous second round. The Lions roared past the field to claim the top spot with a 16-under through 15 holes.

The anxious wait was over as the Green and Gold teed it up Monday morning with the Lions firing off a four-under 284 first round. Sitting in fifth at their home tournament, Saint Leo made the move and blew past the field in most of round two carding a 16-under 224 for 15 of the 18 holes.

Oliver Lilliedahl, who shot a one-under 71 in round two, is on pace to finish eight-under if he plays even Tuesday morning. Lilliedahl is sitting in second place at 123 (-9) with 33 holes played.

Jake Nash is sitting tied for sixth after climbing 25 spots in round two at 126 (-6). Dave Longhini and Colin Kresl are each sitting under-par, at three-under par (tied for 13th) and one-under par (tied for 26th), respectively. Adrian Soriano rounded out the Lions' team of five at four-over 136.
