MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – The 18th-ranked Saint Leo men's golf team sits in second place following the first day of the Battle at the Lakes, hosted by Barry, at the Miami Lakes Golf Club on Monday. In the two rounds on Monday, the Green & Gold registered a score of 570 (-6).
The Lions were led by senior
Enzo Barbaglia, who is tied for second with a 139 (-5) after firing a 70 in round one followed by a 69 in round two. Barbaglia's day featured a total of six birdies. Junior
Maximilian Morgenstern is in a share of sixth with a 141 (-3) after carding a 74 in the first and a 67 in the second. Morgenstern's day was highlighted by an eagle during the second round on the 12th-hole (par-five).
Junior
Nicklas Illi posted consecutive scores of 72s for an even score of 144 as he enters day two tied for 15th. Freshman
Benjamin Morland recorded a 148 (+4) with a pair of 74s. Rounding out the Saint Leo lineup was sophomore
Micke Laurelli, who carded a 151 (+7) as he notched a 72 and a 79.
Senior
Ryan Letterly, who is competing as an individual, is in 10th on the leaderboard with a 142 (-2) following a 72 in the opening round and a 70 in the second round.
The Lions will conclude the Battle at the Lakes with a shotgun start of the third round at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31.
