SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's cross country was picked to finish third in the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced by the league today (Aug. 22).
The Green and Gold will head into a four-race season under sixth-year headcoach
Kent Reiber. The Lions will open up the season at the Florida Tech Invitational on Sept. 7.
Saint Leo received 48 points with one first-place vote in the poll coming in behind Embry-Riddle (first) with 63 points, seven first place, and Florida Southern (second) with 55 points, one first-place vote. Tampa (fourth, 46) and Lynn (fifth, 38) rounded out the top five.
Last season the Lions took home third place at the SSC Championships before going on to take sixth at the NCAA South Region Championship.
Tadgh McGinty was the top overall runner at the SSC Championships taking 10th overall while
Shawn Bell paced the group at the regional with an 18th place finish.
