BRADENTON, Fla. – The third-seeded Saint Leo Lions' Sunshine State Conference Championship run came to an end on Saturday against the second-seeded Lynn Fighting Knights in a 4-1 decision.
Lynn (15-2) clinched the doubles match point, winning the second (6-1) and third (6-2) flights.
Aurel Ciocanu and
Willem Van Den Akker left their first doubles match unfinished as the point was decided.
Saint Leo (16-8) notched its' point in third singles as
Aurel Ciocanu defeated Florian Clemares; 6-4, 6-3.
The Lions continue play tomorrow, Sunday, April 28 at 9:00 a.m., for a chance to claim the third-place title against the fourth-seed Rollins Tars. Last meeting on April 11 in Winter Park, Fla., the Lions topped the Tars 4-3 paced by
Bruno Faletto. Faletto clinched the SSC regular season matchup taking doubles flight no. 2 with
Leonardo Vega (7-5) followed by a three-set flight no. 1 singles battle (6-4, 2-6, 6-3).
