SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's lacrosse team prepares for the program's fourth Sunshine State Conference Championship Tournament appearance. The Saint Leo Lions were selected as the fourth seed set to revisit the first seeded Lynn Fighting Knights on Thursday, April 25 at 5 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.. While the Lions and Fighting Knights have a rematch, second-seeded Tampa will host third seed Rollins.
Saint Leo (9-6, 4-3 SSC) looks to redeem its visit to Boca Raton after Lynn (11-3, 6-1) claimed the SSC Regular Season Championship in an 11-10 overtime thriller against the Lions on Saturday, April 20.
Last season, Saint Leo earned a perfect 7-0 conference record as the 2018 SSC Regular Season Champions and SSC Championship Tournament hosts. Despite the home field advantage, Tampa took home the SSC Tournament title in an 8-6 championship final.
Since men's lacrosse became a league sport in 2014, a SSC team has made the NCAA Division II Tournament. In 2018, Saint Leo defeated Tampa in the NCAA Quarterfinals at University Turf Stadium, 12-11 in overtime. The Lions followed up with a 12-11 win over Lenoir-Rhyne to became the first school from the State of Florida to reach the national stage.
