ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The No. 3 Saint Leo Lions clinched a 4-3 win over the No. 6 Hawai'i Pacific Sharks in Friday's neutral site non-conference men's tennis matchup.
Bruno Faletto paced the Lions to avenge Saint Leo's 2016 National Championship loss to the Sharks. The victory extends the Green and Gold's win streak to two, raising their record to 15-6.
Aurel Ciocanu and
Willem Van Den Akker cashed in a doubles flight no. 1 6-4 decision.
Bruno Faletto and
Leonardo Vega battled for a 7-6 (5) flight no. 2 win to hand the Lions the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.
Hawai'I Pacific took the singles flight 4, 5, and 6.
Aurel Ciocanu at third spot cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win followed by
Ghali Mensour in second singles; 6-4, 6-4. Tied at 3-3,
Bruno Faletto clinched the match in first singles; 7-6 (3), 6-2.
The Lions return to action to Wednesday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m. to host the Embry-Riddle Eagles during the program's senior day. Before the match, Saint Leo will honor its senior
Bruno Babic.
