Track Notes
  • Saint Leo will be sending four student-athletes to the Florida Pepsi Relays this weekend to compete in the 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase.
  • The women will be represented by junior Ashley Lindeman in the 1,500m and freshman Paige Patterson in the steeplechase. The men will send sophomore Shane Bracken to compete in the 1,500m and junior Shawn Bell in the steeplechase.
  • The women's 1,500m is scheduled for a 8:20 p.m. start on Friday evening while the men will take off at 8:50 p.m. The steeplechase will take place for the women at 9:20 p.m. and the men will compete at 9:50 p.m.
  • Last season the men picked up an NCAA provisional mark in the 1,500m.

Softball Notes
  • Softball travels to Lynn to take on the Fighting Knights after sweeping the SSC series from Eckerd March 22-23. The Lions took game one 9-1 in six-innings before a 10-2 five-inning game two followed by a 4-3 eight-inning finale.
  • Following the SSC series, Kendyl Crean was named the SSC Player of the Week after leading the Lions from the plate going 4-for-6 for a .667 average. Crean drove in eight RBI and recorded 14 putouts at first base with no error for a 1.000-fielding percentage.
  • Shyanne DuBois takes over as the season leader in batting average at .371 with 39 hits behind Kacie Kelly and Ashley Morris at 41 a piece. DuBois and Morris are tied for runs scored at 27 where DuBois and Kelly are tied for the most doubles on the team (9). Crean holds the team lead in RBI with 26 in 35 games.
  • Sara Neuman continues to lead the Lions from the circle with a low ERA of 1.20 just ahead of Auria Mounts at 1.97. Mounts leads the team in appearances (19), innings pitched (92.1), and strikeouts (60).
  • Lynn enters the series after taking the series finale against Palm Beach Atlantic 9-8 on March 23. Despite winning the game, the Fighting Knights gave up six runs in the bottom of the seventh before recording the final out.
  • On the year, Shayle Arenson leads the Knights with a .319 average with 36 hits and 18 runs scored.
  • From the circle, Allyson Jameston holds the lowest ERA on staff at 2.71 in 18 appearances.

Baseball Notes
  • Saint Leo returns to the diamond inside Thomas B. Southard Stadium to take on Palm Beach Atlantic this weekend.   
  • The Lions are looking to snap a six-game losing streak that began two weeks ago against Tampa. Saint Leo swept the Sailfish a season ago in West Palm Beach, 12-6, 7-4 and 7-5.   
  • Senior Jared Morello continues to lead the offensive threat for the Lions with a .367 batting average that includes six doubles, four triples and two home runs. He has driven in 21 runs and drawn 19 walks.
  • Senior Peyton Isaacson leads the team in RBI with 29 and home runs with six.
  • On the pitching side, the Lions have seen seven different pitchers start games this season with redshirt junior Ryan Nolan leading the way with a 3-1 record.
  • Redshirt senior Shane Haight has seen the most action on the mound going a team-high 42.1 innings while junior Joey Antonopoulos, who has seen 31.1 innings of work, leads the team in strikeouts with 38.
  • Palm Beach Atlantic has won nine of its last 11 contests on the season including taking two of three against 16th-ranked Nova Southeastern at home last weekend. The team also picked up a 14-1 win over 19th-ranked Wilmington and a 7-4 (10 inn.) victory over No. 20 Barry during the stretch.
  • Redshirt senior Danny Tufariello leads the team offensively with a .383 batting average that includes eight doubles, a triple and five home runs. He has driven in 20 runs and scored 17 runs of his own.
  • Junior Brandon Seitzer leads the team with 25 RBI and is tied with Tufariello and redshirt senior Connor Rowland for the team lead in home runs with five.
  • The Sailfish have sent six different pitchers to the mound to start games this season with senior Mitchell Carroll leading the way with a 4-2 record. Junior Christian Denton leads the team in innings pitched with 47.1 while Carroll leads the team in Ks with 41.

Beach Volleyball Notes
  • Saint Leo hosts Eckerd College for a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.  
  • The Lions are 4-0 at home this season with just three home matches remaining. The Lions defeated Eckerd 4-1 earlier this year at the Stetson Spring Fling. The Tritons went 2-0 against Saint Leo last season.
  • Saint Leo is coming off a 4-1 victory over Stevenson and a 3-2 win against Florida Southern back on Thursday, March 21.
  • The Lions are led by Payton Bellano and Anilise Fitzi who have posted a 6-8 record through the first 14 matches of the season as the No. 3 duo.
  • Eckerd is 1-15 this season with its lone victory coming versus Webber International at the Eckerd College Battle on the Bay on March 9.

Women's Tennis Notes
  • No.3 Saint Leo defeated No. 6 Nova Southeastern 4-3 and No.11 Academy of Art 4-3, the Lions fifth nationally-ranked victory in 2019.
  • The Green and Gold enter the week with an 8-2 record at home and a 2-0 mark on the road.
  • First singles Marta Vicens Miquel holds a 10-4 season mark followed by Krystina Jurkova with a 12-2 record in second singles. Nina Furmaniak has accumulated a 13-1 record in third singles for the Lions.
  • No.41 Palm Beach Atlantic earned a 6-1 win over Florida Tech on Wednesday. to snap a two-match losing skid.
  • No.1 Barry was defeated by No.5 Lynn 5-2 in their last match.
  • The Buccaneers are 4-1 at home and 3-1 in the SSC.

  • No. 4 Saint Leo was defeated 6-1 by Barry in their last match to move the Lions SSC record to 2-2.
  • Bruno Faletto holds a 13-2 season record competing at the first singles spot.
  • No.12 Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish are undefeated at home with a 7-0 record.
  • The Sailfish have swept four teams this season in the form of West Liberty, Catawba, Ferris State, and Eckerd.

Women's Lacrosse Notes
  • On Monday, the Saint Leo women's lacrosse team climbed the IWLCA national-ranks as No. 22 in division II. 
  • The, then, No. 24 Saint Leo women's lacrosse team clinched a perfect non-conference season in the form of a 20-4 win over Montevallo Sunday afternoon at University Turf Stadium.
  • Leslie Ferguson of the Saint Leo women's lacrosse team was named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The honor is her career's first and program's second offensive weekly nod. The senior attacker put up 14 points (10 goals, four assists), registered five caused turnovers and 12 ground balls. Ferguson, the program's newest all-time leading scorer has scored 119 career goals.
  • Kaylah Walstad's career tally of 44 assists is just one shy from tying the all-time assist record. The program's current record of 45 assists was set by Caroline Fraser (2014-2017).
  • Sarah Pierson joined in on the record breaking fun on Sunday. Pierson broke her own draw control record (game) now at 11.
  • Saint Leo enters the conference season as the fourth most dangerous offense in NCAA Division II averaging 17.67 goals per game.
  • Embry-Riddle closed out its non-conference season on Tuesday against Montevallo where the Eagles earned a 22-2 win over the Falcons.
  • McKenzie Jackson, Mya Watson and Kendall Leonard tallied four goals apiece to lead the Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team to a 22-2 defeat of Montevallo.
  • On the season, Jackson leads the Eagles' offense with 54 points (36g, 18a) and is closely followed by Watson with 53 points (38g, 15a).
  • Jackson is also the draw control leader with 88.
  • Last meeting on Thursday, March 29, 2018, the 2018 No. 17 Lions registered a 23-13 win at Embry-Riddle.

Men's Lacrosse Notes
  • On Monday, Saint Leo broke into the Top-15 USILA national-rankings, entering the week as No. 14 in Division II.
  • The No. 16 Saint Leo Lions downed Sunshine State Conference opponent, Palm Beach Atlantic, 21-5 at University Turf Stadium on Friday.
  • Philip Buque netted four goals, picked up two ground balls and caused one turnover.
  • Charlie Kurtenbach scored a hat-trick and three assists for a six-point game. He also picked up three ground balls.
  • Thomas Tatarian earned 12 saves after 50 minutes of work in the net. Ian Areford wrapped up the goal keeping responsibilities.  
  • On the season, Kurtenbach leads the Lions offense with 46 points (28g, 18a). He is two goals away from earning his 100th career goal with 98 goals, 64 assists.
  • Buque has accumulated 37 points this season from 28 goals, nine assists.
  • FO Specialist, Jordan Williams has gone 107-for-196 on the 'X' picking up 55 ground balls.
  • LSM Ethan Ticehurst has caused 16 turnovers while picking up 34 ground balls followed by SSM Julian Taylor with 11 caused turnovers and 28 ground balls. Ticehurst and Taylor have also impacted the scoreboard as Ticehurst has scored five goals and four assists while Taylor has put in eight goals and four assists.
  • In goal, Tatarian has earned 82 saves with a .533 save percentage and 12.42 GGA average.
  • Embry-Riddle is coming off a 25-8 loss from RV Tampa. Mitchell Cody led the Eagles with three goals and an assist while Gage Poindexter added three goals and a pair of ground balls.
  • Cody leads the Eagles offense with 41 points (20g, 21a) followed by Jacobs Coleman with 39 points (29g, 10a).
  • Mark Urso has won 190-of-281 faceoffs, picking up 125 ground balls.
  • In the net, Lucas Fraser has earned 90 stops along with a .433 save percentage and 10.64 GGA average.
  • Last meeting on March 24, 2018, the ten No. 10 Lions defeated the Eagles 21-6 in the Green and Gold's open SSC game.
