SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 6 Saint Leo men's tennis team earned its fifth-straight victory sweeping the Bulldogs of Ferris State 7-0 on Tuesday. The non-conference decision raised the Lions overall record to 8-3.
Doubles Flight No.1
Aurel Ciocanu and
Willem Van Den Akker battled for a 7-5 win. Meanwhile, Fight No. 2
Bruno Faletto and
Leonardo Vega went 6-4 followed by Flight No. 3
David Perez and
Ghali Mensour who handed in a 6-2 final.
First singles
Bruno Faletto, ranked 40
th among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national poll, defeated his Bulldog opponent 6-4, 6-4. Third singles
Aurel Ciocanu followed suit with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Second singles
Ghali Mensour clinched the match with a 7-6 (5), 6-0 decision.
Willem Van Den Akker handed in a fifth singles 6-2, 6-1 win while
David Perez recorded a 6-2, 6-2 six singles final.
Noel Kunz battled in fourth singles for a long three-set match to earn the sweep. Kunz topped his Bulldog opponent 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.
The Lions return to action on Thursday, March 14 at 3 p.m. in Orlando, Fla. to meet Rockhurst at the USTA National Campus.
