SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 6 Saint Leo men's tennis team defeated Hillsdale 5-2 to extend the Lions' win streak to four on Monday. The non-conference victory raised the Green and Gold's overall record to 7-3.
Saint Leo earned the doubles point. Flight no. 2 pair
Bruno Faletto and
Leonardo Vega handed in a 6-0 decision followed by flight No. 1 duo
Aurel Ciocanu and
Willem Van Den Akker who earned a 6-2 win.
Ghali Mensour and
David Perez clinched a 7-5 fight No. 3 win for the doubles sweep.
Aurel Ciocanu won by retirement in third singles after edging his opponent 6-2, 6-3. Faletto, ranked 40
th in the nation, rolled over his first singles opponent 6-0, 6-4.
Ghali Mensour clinched the match in second singles; 6-1, 6-2.
Willem Van Den Akker earned the Lions' fifth team point earning a 7-5, 6-2 win in fifth singles.
Saint Leo returns to the court tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12 at 11 a.m. to host the Ferris State Bulldogs.
