LAKELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's cross country team swept the field to take home a first place victory in the overall race to open the 2018 season at the Holloway Park Preseason Festival.

In the overall results, Division II and NAIA, the Lions were the top team and were crowned the Holloway Park Preseason Festival winners with a total time of 2:20:22 on the 8K course in Lakeland.

Clement Goujon paced the Lions with a third place finish in the Division II standings with a 27:46.4 time Saturday morning. Goujon was followed by
Shawn Bell in fifth place (27:55.5),
Tadgh McGinty (6th, 27:59.9),
Noah Quintana (7th, 28:15.7),
Tyler Pantley (8th, 28:24.3),
Ethan Markey (10th, 28:39.0),
Joshua Sickinger (11th, 28:49.2),
Hunter Chavis (15th, 31:10.2), and
Brandon Cruz (18th, 36:36.6).

Mason Jones of Florida Southern won the medalist honors on the men's side with a time of 26:17.0.

Saint Leo returns to the course on Sept. 22 when the Green and Gold heads to Gainesville, Fla. for the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida.
