SAINT LEO, Fla. – On a day of celebration for Saint Leo alum, Fred Cambria '70, No. 18 Saint Leo baseball swept the visiting Rollins College Tars 8-4 and 5-0 to pick up Sunshine State Conference series sweep number four. The Lions improved to 29-8, 12-6 SSC on the season.

On the day, seven pitchers saw action where
Shane Haight,
Joey Antonopoulos,
Drew Tumbelty,
Peyton Isaacson, and
Tyler Bauman all recorded a 0.00 ERA where Haight, Antonopoulos and Tumblety pitched more than one inning, with Haight going the longest of all pitchers Saturday, seven innings. The pitching staff allowed just 10 hits between the 16 innings where they combined for a 1.50 staff ERA and held the Tars to a .167 batting average.

Zach Scott paced the team with a .667 batting average after going 4-for-6 from the plate with one double, one triple and two base knocks. Scott scored team-high three runs, tying
Jared Morello, while driving in two RBI, one shy of team leader
Brett Coffel (3).

All nine Green and Gold hitters recorded at least a hit on the day, behind Scott and
Chase Turner's four-hit day. Coffel, Morello and Issacson all tallied three hits, ahead of
Derek Gibree,
Lane Stancil and
Aaron Portee's two hits.

Game One - #18 Saint Leo 8, Rollins 4
The Lions took the opening game Saturday and won the SSC series with an 8-4 game one. Saint Leo scored two runs in the first, second and fifth innings while tallying one run in the sixth and eighth innings for its eight runs where the Tars scored one in the third and seventh, and two runs in the sixth.

Ryan Nolan, who came in with one out in the first inning, recorded three strikeouts in the 23 batters faced while surrendering six hits, three runs, two earned.

Aaron Portee started the second inning off with a single before swiping second base and coming in to score on an
Amir Wright single through the right side. Wright would cross the plate for the fourth run of the game for the Green and Gold on a passed ball.

Ahead 4-1, the Lions plated two more in the fifth as Scott hit a one-out double before Coffel singled to score Scott. Coffel would come in to score on a
Derek Gibree single to right field making it 6-1.

Rollins got two back in the top of the sixth before the Lions scored one in the bottom half as Scott singled to bring in Turner; Saint Leo 7-3.

Both teams would plate another run over the last three innings with the Tars scoring one in the seventh and the Lions one in the eighth as Gibree scored on a throwing error by the Tars.

Game Two - #18 Saint Leo 5, Rollins 0
The Lions once again scored in the first inning to jump on the Tars before adding three in the third and one in the eighth for a 5-0 final. The Saint Leo pitching staff combined for a complete game shutout with just two hits.
Shane Haight pitched seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts and just two hits.
Joey Antonopoulos came in for the final two innings and held the Tars to no hits with three strikeouts.

A sacrifice fly to left field by
Chase Turner brought in
Jared Morello for the first run of the game and would go on to be the game winner. A fielding error by the Tars' second baseman allowed Morello to come in for the second run before a lazy attempt to retrieve the ball allowed
Peyton Isaacson to round third and score for the Lions. A high bouncing ball got through the left side saw
Zach Scott to turn the corner and score for the Green and Gold.

After four scoreless frames, the Lions got on the board again with a sacrifice fly by
Brett Coffel to center field, where Scott walked home from third. Scott got aboard with a leadoff triple in the eighth inning.

Antonopoulos got two quick outs in the ninth inning before a walk followed by a strikeout to end the contest.

Saint Leo returns to action on April 20 in Melbourne for a 6 p.m. start against the Florida Tech Panthers. The Lions and Panthers will play their three-game Sunshine State Conference series over three days.
