Women's Tennis Notes
  • The no. 13 Saint Leo women's tennis team turned in an 8-1 win against Rollins on Wednesday.
  • No. 1 and no. 3 doubles delivered the 2-1 lead heading into singles play. Maja Pindelska and Madeleine Gauthier defeated no. 1 opponents 8-4. Likewise, Kristyna Jurkova and Sophie Vlietstra downed no. 3 Tars 8-4.
  • The Lions cruised through singles, taking all six matches.
  • The SVSU Cardinals look to snap a two loss skid. On Wednesday, the Florida Tech Panthers handed the Cardinals a 7-2 loss. SVSU held the lead after doubles 2-1 but couldn't get it done in singles play.

  • Saint Leo travels to Coastal Carolina for another invitational this Friday and Saturday.
  • On the men's side, it was Niclas Bez who added another win taking the 800 meter race with a time of 1:56.17. Anthony Deleva placed second in the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:04.05, while teammates Joshua Sickenger, Tadgh McGinty and Hunter Chavis all earned top 12 finishes.
  • For the women, the Lions took home three races with Lauren Csubak winning the 800 meter race with a time of 2:21.35, Colett Rampf winning the 1500 meter race showcasing a 4:47.67 time, and Saint Leo snatched the 4000 meter relay crown with a team mark of 12:37.34

Men's Tennis Notes
  • No. 7 Saint Leo men's tennis team has showcased the program's best start in over a decade earning a 5-0 overall record.
  • On Tuesday, Jaime Bueno and Willem Van Den Akker defeated no. 2 doubles opponents 8-6. Saint Leo recovered from being down 2-1 after doubles, sweeping all six single matches.
  • No. 25 Concordia (N.Y.) is set to meet Saint Leo in Lake Nona, Fla. with a 3-1 record.
  • On Tuesday, the Clippers dropped their first match to no. 14 Rollins, 7-2.

Women's Lacrosse Notes
  • A record scoring performance from 11 different sticks improved the Saint Leo women's lacrosse best season start to six, overtaking Tusculum 24-7 on Wednesday. 
  • Saint Leo set its most goals record to 24 taking 37 total shots, converting 9-10 free position shots and took advantage of 3-4 extra-man opportunities.
  • Sarah Pierson earned 10 draw controls for a season total of 39.
  • Leslie Ferguson scored six goals, two assists raising her season point count to 35.  
  • Erin Davis picked up her sixth win turning in four saves in 30 minutes of action. She enters Friday's game with a .518 save percentage grabbing 29 saves.
  • Assumption has yet to visit the loss column in 2018. The Greyhounds secured a 20-4 win over Post followed by a 22-11 performance against Dominican (N.Y.) on Sunday.
  • On Sunday, Caitlin Graves scored a career-high nine points on five goals and four assists. Kailyn Hart also had a career-best with eight points on four goals and four assists in addition to picking up three ground balls.
  • On the season, Graves leads the Greyhounds with seven goals. Jenny Bush has also netted seven goals while also tallying 10 draw controls. Amanda Burns has collected 15 draw controls for the early Greyhound season.

Softball Notes
  • No. 10 Softball jumps back into conference play as they host Nova Southeastern in a three-game series.
  • Saint Leo is coming off a four-game win streak after defeating Cedarville 14-1 in six innings and Ashland 6-2 in a pair of neutral site games on Tuesday, just to travel back home to sweep Tiffin in a doubleheader on Wednesday 9-1 (5 inns.) and 5-0.
  • Kacie Kelly, Sarah Pauscher, and Bethany Kursch continue to dominate for the Lions offensively. Kelly leads the team in batting average, runs scored, and doubles. Pauscher and Kursch add the power to the lineup with three home runs each and 34 combined RBIs.
  • The two workhorses for the Lions, Alison Mitts and Auria Mounts, are a combined 14-6 with four saves, eight complete games, and 108 strikeouts over the 131.2 innings logged.
  • Nova Southeastern has a 12-12, 2-4 SSC record coming into the weekend. The Sharks have a three-game win streak of their own after beating Upper Iowa 2-0 on Saturday and then sweeping a doubleheader against Albany State 8-3 and 8-2.
  • Senior Dana Edmundson leads the team is either leading the team or tied for the lead in almost every single major offensive category.
  • The Sharks have only used two pitchers all year, while relying on the right-hander Lexie Storrer for the majority of the time. Storrer has logged 120.2 innings in her 20 appearances, while allowing 42 earned runs and striking out 46 batters.

Men's Lacrosse Notes
  • No. 16 Saint Leo will meet Queens (N.C.) at Jug Knight Field in the Scarborough Complex located in Savannah, Ga. The neutral game welcomes any from the Saint Leo community in Savannah to come out and support the Lions on the road.
  • Saturday's 12-9 loss at No. 16 Mount Olive was the Lions first trip to the loss column of the 2018 season.
  • Kyle Pauwels was named to the United States Lacrosse Association (USILA) Team for the second time this season. Pauwels scored on every shot taken on Saturday tallying four goals and an assist while picking up a ground ball and causing a turnover.
  • On the season, Jake Gilmour has tallied 23 points, scoring 14 goals and 12 assists. Pauwels has also scored 14 while assisting in nine. Jordan Williams leads Saint Leo's faceoff going 55-109 for the season. In the net, Thomas Tatarian has started all five games collecting 71 saves, posting a .597 save percentage.
  • No. 19 Queens fell to the No. 8 Belmont Abbey Crusaders 10-4 on Thursday. Justin Metzger netted two goals. In the net, Anthony Valenza earned nine saves.
  • On the season, Kevin Barry has tallied eight goals and an assist. Reed Murphy and Justin Metzger has four goals on the early season.

Baseball Notes
  • No. 18 Baseball is coming off of a two game sweep of Tiffin University 1-0 and 6-5. The pair of wins pushed the Lions win streak to 11 Tuesday evening.
  • The Lions are looking forward to a four game in four day series versus The University of Bridgeport
  • The Lions got a great game one against Tiffin from senior, Shane Haight. Haight put together a complete game shutout allowing just five hits, while striking out five in the 1-0 win. Game two required a little more offensive as they were led by Amir Wright's 3-for-4 night at the plate. Tiffin surrendered the lead thanks to a balk in the bottom of the sixth which brought home Derek Gibree.
  • Peyton Isaacson and Drew Tumbelty combined for two innings and four strikeouts as the duo was able to shut the door on any Tiffin heroics. Tumbelty picked up his third win, while Isaacson recorded his eighth save of the year.
  • Bridgeport is coming with a 1-8 record after dropping a game against New Haven which brings the Bridgeport losing streak to six.
  • Tom Rinaldi leads the knights in RBIs with nine, meanwhile Aiden Burton leads the team in qualified batting average at .385 (5-13)

#8 Men's Golf Notes
  • No. 8 Saint Leo men's golf heads back to the links for a three-day tournament in Valdosta, Ga. after taking third at the Saint Leo Invitational on Feb. 27. The Lions will play three rounds in three days at the Southeastern Intercollegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, in which the top 11 teams in the nation will be present.
  • Alberto Castagnara paced the Lions at the home invitational with a sixth place finish after carding a 211 (-5) with two rounds of 71 (-1) and a 69 (-3). Bas Vermeulen took home 10th after a 214 (-2) with two rounds of 70 (-2) and a final round 74 (+2).
