Softball Notes
- No. 23 Softball opens the home portion of the season with young Harris where each team comes in with one loss. The Lions enter at 5-1 where the Mountain Lions are 3-1.
- Both Teams opened their season up at the Gulf Coast Invitational where the Lions defeated Delta State (8-3), No. 3 West Florida (5-4, 8 innings), North Alabama (6-2), Ala.-Huntsville (9-1, 6 innings), and West Alabama 6-1.
- After their performance on the weekend, Kacie Kelly and Alison Mitts were tabbed Sunshine State Conference players of the week. Kelly was named SSC Player of the Week and Mitts, SSC Pitcher of the Week.
- Kelly leads the team on the young season with a .522 batting average with 12 hits, five doubles and nine runs scored. Mitts stands at 2-0 and holds a team best 1.47 ERA after tossing 14.1 innings. Mitts has 16 strikeouts to her credit.
- Young Harris opened their season with a 4-3 loss to Delta State before ripping off three straight, 2-0 over West Georgia, 6-0 over Delta State and 8-0 over West Alabama.
- On the year, Haylie Shope holds a .667 batting average with four hits, one double and one triple.
- In the circle, Dharma Rosburgh stands at 2-0 with 14.0 innings pitched and a 0.00 ERA. Â

Men's Lacrosse Notes
- Saint Leo secured an 18-10 win at Alabama-Huntsville in the season road opener on Saturday. Jake Gilmour earned seven points scoring three goals, assisting in four. Anthony Visintin tallied five points. Visintin showcased a perfect shooting day, 7-of-7 shots on goal on his way to a three goal, two assist day. Charlie Kurtenbach led scoring with four goals. Jordan Williams overpowered the Chargers on the faceoff, winning 18-of-26. Thomas Tatarian earned nine saves protecting the Lions' net.
- Jake Gilmour was named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for his strong season start. Gilmour jumpstarted Saint Leo 5-0 at Alabama-Huntsville, scoring three goals in a five-minute span during the first quarter in Saturday's season opener.Â
- For the second consecutive match to open the 2018 campaign, senior Adam Golia shattered the program record for points while also breaking the program record for goals as the Railsplitters coasted to a 21-8 victory at Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday.
- Golia enters the game with 22 points from 14 goals, 8 assists after two games. Leading the Railsplitters faceoffs is Kameron Andrews, .526% winning 20-of-38. LMU's net is protected by Michael Kessler and Jeffrey Handman. With each goalkeeper 1-0, Kessler has earned nine saves, Handman eight.

Baseball Notes
- Due to weather, the Baseball home opener got pushed up a month, where the Lions and Lee Flames moved their three game series to Thomas B. Southard Stadium.
- Saint Leo comes in at 2-0 and Lee 2-1. The Lions defeated Ala.-Huntsville to open the season in Huntsville with a 7-4 nine inning win and a 6-4 seven inning win.
- Jared Morello leads the team from the box with a .667 batting average. Peyton Isaacson leads the team in doubles with four where Jake Sims and Derek Gibree have each hit a home run.
- McCabe Sargent and Jordan Pendleton have each earned a win on the mound where Pendleton pitched 5.0 innings with four strikeouts in the season opener.
- Lee swept Tuskegee in the season opening doubleheader, 6-1 and 5-0, before dropping the third game, 3-2.
- Brayden Ware leads the team in batting average with a .500. Pat Morrow and Eric Freeman are each 1-0 on the year with Morrow leading the way with a 0.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts.

Women's Basketball Notes
- Saint Leo was led by Nikira Hooks to its second straight SSC win earning a 55-52 win over Nova Southeastern on Wednesday. Hooks scored career –high 25 points going 7-14 FG, 2-4 3FG, 9-10 FT. In addition, she added eight rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block to her big day. She faces Barry averaging 8.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG.
- Alani Gallagher enters the game leading the Lions' scoring, and rebounding, averaging 8.8 PPG (46.1FG%), 5.9 RPG.
- Gina Brierley and Madelin Lang share the point guard responsibilities. Brierley has tallied 81 assists, 3.7 APG, Lang has 55 on the season, 2.3 APG.
- Barrry is coming off two straight losses after facing Florida Southern (77-60) and Embry-Riddle (64-52).
- On Wednesday, Kiara Palmer led the Bucs with 16 points, 10 rebounds. Granada added 11 points. Palmer visits Saint Leo averaging 16 PPG, 9.9 RPG shooting 56 FG%. Barbara Cousino and Ida Andersson also average double digit scoring for the Bucs; Cousino with 14.2 PPG, Andersson with 10.3 PPG.
- Matchup: Barry holds the season series 1-0 after a 72-54 decision in Miami Shores, Fla. on January 3rd. Gina Brierley's career-high 24-point performance saw women's basketball fall short at Barry. For Barry, Cousino led with 15 points. The Bucs outrebounded the Lions 52-30, scoring 29 points off the bench.

Men's Basketball Notes
- Saint Leo enters the weekend with an even .500 SSC record (8-8) after suffering a 91-77 loss to Nova Southeastern on Feb. 7.
- The Lions saw four players score in double-figures, led by Kyran McClure with 16 points. McClure went 9-for-9 from the free throw line.
- On the year, Junior Searcy leads the team with 12.3 points per game and blocks, with 22. Isaiah Hill and Drago Popovic lead the team in rebound where Hill averages 5.1 per game and Popovic 5.0.
- Barry enters the weekend with a 14-6, 10-5 SSC record after snapping a two-game skid with an 89-73 win over Embry-Riddle. Four players scored in double-figures led by Elvar Fridriksson with 25 points. Fridriksson dished out 10 assists on the day to complete his double-double.
- Fridriksson leads the team on the season with 21.2 points per game and 7.5 assists per game. Three other Buccaneers join him in double-figures.
- Matchup: The Lions traveled to Miami Shores, Fla. and suffered a 79-63 loss. Tyreece Brice led Saint Leo in scoring with 17 points where Elvar Fridriksson led the team with 32 points. Â

- Saint Leo men's golf opens up the 2018 spring season with a trip to Lakeland, Fla. to take part in the Matlock Invitational, hosted by Florida Southern.
- The Lions are coming off a fifth place finish at the Copperhead Championship on Oct. 17 in Palm Harbor, Fla. Alberto Castagnara tied for the lead to force a playoff before falling to John VanDerLaan. Castagnara shot rounds of 72, 68 and 70.
