ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Trailing 5-3 heading into the eighth inning, Saint Leo baseball used a two-out rally to rattle off five runs to take down Eckerd 8-5 on the road Tuesday.

Shane Haight got the nod for the Lions and pitched 3.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits and recorded three strikeouts. Saint Leo (7-2) turned to
Ryan Nolan out of the pen where the righty went 1.2 innings allowing three runs on one hit. Nolan fanned three batters as well.

Oscar Gordillo came in for 2.2 innings of work where he picked up his second win of the year, moving to 2-1 for the Green and Gold. Gordillo allowed no runs and gave up just one hit in his 11 batters faced. Gordillo struck out two batters on the night.

Peyton Isaacson, who hit a three-run home run with two outs in the top of the third that originally put the Lions ahead 3-1, came in and earned his fifth save of the year after pitching one inning and recorded two strikeouts in the three batters he faced.

On Isaacson's three-run homer,
Aaron Portee and
Amir Wright were among Isaacson's RBI.

Saint Leo would go quiet over the next four innings before blowing things open with a five-run eighth inning.
Brett Coffel got things started with a one out solo homer in the eighth inning before the Lions scored four more runs to take an 8-5 lead.

With two outs in the eighth,
Zach Scott would keep the rally alive with a single up the middle.
Jared Morello, who was pinch hitting for
Jake Sims, walked before
Aaron Portee singled up the middle, advancing to second on the throw while Morello moved to third, scoring Scott.

Derek Gibree stepped up with two outs and two on and reached on a fielder's choice as Morello scored and Portee slid into third, keeping the inning alive. Portee and Gibree would come in to score on back-to-back singles from
Lane Stancil and
Amir Wright.

Oscar Gordillo worked a quick bottom of the eighth before
Peyton Isaacson came in to close things out in the bottom of the ninth. Isaacson got the first batter to foul out to Gibree before retiring the side on back-to-back strikeouts.

Saint Leo returns to action Feb. 23 in Boca Raton at 3 p.m. against Lynn. The Lions will play their three game series against the Fighting Knights Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
