SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo junior guard, Kyran McClure was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week after leading the Lions men's basketball team to a pair of wins at the Saint Leo Classic.

Saint Leo (2-2) picked up win number one of the season over Auburn-Montgomery Friday night (Nov. 16), 83-72, before taking down No. 9/12 West Florida, 69-65, to close out the Saint Leo Classic with a 2-0 record, the only team to finish undefeated on the weekend. 

Kyran McClure helped guide the team to both wins after scoring 43 points on the weekend, averaging 21.5 points per game, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in the two games. The Concord, N.C. native, shot 65-percent (13-for-20) from the field, including a 60-percent (6-for-10) performance from beyond the arc, and a perfect 100-percent from the free throw line going 11-for-11. 

In the win over no. 9/12 West Florida, in which the Lions trailed by 12 at halftime and came back to win 69-65, McClure tallied 24 points, two shy of a career-high, hauled in five rebounds and picked up two steals. The lefty guard shot 7-for-10 from the field, including a 3-for-5 mark from downtown and finished the night off with a 7-for-7 night at the charity stripe. McClure helped reverse the halftime score with 15 second-half points. 

This is the first SSC weekly honor of the season for Saint Leo men's basketball, while it is McClure's first of his career. 

Saint Leo will travel to Lakeland, Fla., to take participate in two games at the Terrace Hotel Classic hosted by Florida Southern College, Nov. 23-24. The Lions will take on Stonehill at 5:30 p.m. Friday before a 5:30 p.m. matchup with Merrimack on Saturday.
