Lovinge Named SSC Swimmer of the Week

The award is the first of Lovinge's young career and first for the Lions this season

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Following an upset of No. 7 Florida Southern on Saturday, freshman Hampus Lovinge of the No. 14 Saint Leo men's swimming team was named the Sunshine State Conference Swimmer of the Week. Lovinge won three individual events and led off the winning 200 medley relay as the Lions defeated FSC 163.50-98.50.
 
Lovinge won the 200 individual medley in 1:50.79 which ranks as the top time in the NCAA this season and ranks as an NCAA "B" standard. He also picked up wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke. His time in the 100 was 50.05 which is the top time this season in the SSC and sixth in the NCAA. In the 200, he touched in 1:50.55 which also marked the top time in the SSC and third in the NCAA. Lovinge joined forces with junior Henrik Dahrendorff, freshman Matthew Daniel and junior Michael Southward to win the opening 200 medley relay in 1:33.24, as well, which ranks as the second fastest time in the SSC this season and ninth in the NCAA.
 
Lovinge returns to action with the rest of the Lions squad on Friday, Oct. 26 as the team hits the road for the first time this season for a dual meet at Rollins.
