PALM HARBOR, Fla. - No. 4 Saint Leo men's golf wrapped up play at the Copperhead Championship in 10th place on the par-71, 7,209-yard Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort. The Lions were led by
Alberto Castagnara and
Oliver Lilliedahl who tied for 24th at four-over, 217.
Castagnara and Lilliedahl each shot a one-over for the third and final round Tuesday to tie for 24th out of the 89 golfers.
Dave Longhini tied for 42nd at eight-over, 221, one stroke ahead of
Simon Knutsson who tied for 44th at 222 (+9). Longhini followed his Monday scores, of 73 and 74, up with a 74 Tuesday where Knutsson followed suit and carded a 74 over the final 18-holes.
Nilo Sanchez, playing as an individual on the Copperhead Course, tied for 63rd at 228 (+15).
Bas Vermeulen and
Kanata Irei tied for 83rd at 239 (+26) where Vermeulen turned in a 75 with Irei shooting an 84 to close out play.
Shane Reynolds was the last of the Lions' eight golfers on the course where he finished in 88th at 250 (+37).
No. 1 Barry University took home the team title with ease as the Buccaneers shot an 18-under, 834 for the three rounds. Christian Bosso got a little chase Tuesday for the individual title, but Bosso held off the field shooting a 10-under 203 for the tournament.
Saint Leo returns to the course for the third straight week of action when the Green and Gold travel to Miami, Fla. to play in the Miami Intercollegiate at the Trump National Doral.
