SAINT LEO, Fla. – The eighth-ranked Saint Leo women's tennis team fell by a final tally of 9-0 to the No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic Pirates on Saturday afternoon at the Saint Leo Tennis Complex. The loss drops the Lions to 2-3 on the season, while Armstrong Atlantic advances to 4-0.
Singles action was much like doubles play for the Lions. At No. 1 singles, third-ranked Filipovski defeate Coralie Pesenti, (6-0, 6-0), while the No. 2 position was won by 15th-ranked Kritckova, 6-0, 14-12, over Wagner.
Both third and fourth singles were won by the Bucs, 6-2, 6-1, with 16th-ranked Hacke taking down Benkirane at No. 3, and Prats-Milan beating Helgesson at No. 4.
Sixth-ranked Perez defeated Montoya, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, while Kalodzitsa came out on top over Daszkiewicz at the No. 6 position, 6-2, 6-1.
The Saint Leo women's tennis team returns to action on Monday, February 24, when they host the University of Tampa at the Saint Leo Tennis Complex, with match time against the Spartans is slated for 3 p.m.
