AS A SENIOR (2016)
All-SSC Second Team Doubles … 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee ... ITA Scholar-Athlete … 17-2 in singles on the season, 9-1 at No. 5 flight, 3-0 at No. 6, and 5-1 at No. 4 … went 21-3 in doubles, with a 20-1 record with Marine Beugre-Guyot … won all three of her matches in both singles and doubles at nationals in Denver… team captain … earned her first Sunshine State Conference Female Tennis Athlete of the Week honor (3/7) this season … finished her four year Saint Leo career with a 51-19 singles record, and 69-22 doubles record … named to the 2016 Spring SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, earning a 4.0 in the semester...member of Saint Leo University President's Club Spring 2016.
AS A JUNIOR (2015)
Ended the season with a 13-2 singles record, including a 4-1 tally in Sunshine State Conference contests… Played primarily as the No. 5 and No. 6 in the Saint Leo lineup, posting a 7-1 and 4-1 record, respectively… Was unbeaten in 13 consecutive contests, tallying 11 victories spanning Feb. 7 to April 18… Held a 15-9 record in doubles action, with her best team-up notching a 7-2 record (Marine Beugre-Guyot)...member of Saint Leo University President's Club Fall 2015 and Spring 2015.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2014)
Went 10-4 on the year overall in singles play and 4-1 in Sunshine State Conference action... Had a record of 1-1 at the No. 3 flight at No. 4 singles 4-1 at No. 5 another record of 4-1 and at No. 6 a 1-1 record... In doubles play Helgesson was even more impressive posting a record of 17-5 with a 6-4 mark in SSC play... She played 13 of her 22 matches at No. 1 doubles with three different partners with a record of 10-3... At the No. 2 doubles position she put up a record of 7-2 with partner Laura Kemkes. Her strong play throughout the season was a major contribution to the Lions playoff push eventually reaching the Final Four in the NCAA DII National Championship Tournament.
AS A FRESHMAN (2013)
Was 11-11 on the year overall and 4-4 in Sunshine State Conference play…Was 2-1 at No. 1 singles, 6-9 at No. 2, a perfect 3-0 at No. 3 and 0-1 at No. 4 singles…Posted a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over Florida Southern’s Magda Riutort on 04/29/13, who was ranked No. 18 in the nation and No. 3 in the south region…Finished the season ranked No. 17 in the south region in doubles (Maria Benkirane)…Was 17-7 in doubles play and 5-2 in SSC competition…Posted a 10-5 mark in No. 1 doubles and a 7-2 record at No. 2 doubles…Went 6-4 in her last 10 doubles matches to end the season...member of Saint Leo University President's Club Fall 2013 and Spring 2013.
CAREER
Attended Holavedsgymnasiet in Tranas, Sweden…Won eight Swedish Champion medals…Also was a member of Linkopings Tennis Club…At Linkopings was ranked 14th as a junior and 35th as a senior in Sweden…Coached by Mats Persson.
PERSONAL
Born July 28 in Tranas, Sweden…Business Administration major… Daughter of Tomas and Maria Helgesson… Her focus is centered on her sport as she lists her only hobby as tennis…Her career goal is to be the best she possibly can at everything…Names her positive outlook and her hatred of losing as her best assets to the team…Names female tennis standout Maria Sharapova as her favorite athlete...Names Paris Saint-Germain as her favorite team (mainly because of Zlatan Ibrahimovic)…Chose Saint Leo because of the beautiful campus and the prospect of competing with a good tennis team.
