DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Saint Leo University men's lacrosse defeated the Eagles of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University 15-12 in a road SSC contest.
First Quarter:
Saint Leo came out sharp with goals from seniors Ben Baker, Anderson Smith, and John Raucci during an early run. The Lions built a two goal cushion before Embry-Riddle closed late, giving Saint Leo a 5–4 lead after one.
Second Quarter:
The Lions extended their lead behind goals from seniors Greg Palmer and Aidan Knoetgen, while Smith added two more late in the quarter. Despite a brief Embry Riddle push, Saint Leo carried a 9–7 lead into halftime.
Third Quarter:
Saint Leo created separation in the third. Senior Owen Wills scored on a man up opportunity, and senior Tristan LeBlanc added two goals during a key stretch to push the lead to 12–10 heading into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter:
The Lions put the game away with a strong start to the final period. LeBlanc, Raucci, and Smith all scored to extend the lead to five before holding off a late Embry Riddle push to secure the 15–12 victory.
Stat Leaders:
Saint Leo finished with 49 shots and 25 ground balls, controlling possession and maintaining the lead throughout the contest.
The men's lacrosse team will wrap up the regular season next Wednesday at Lynn University, and awaits their destiny in the SSC tournament.
