The Wood Sisters Combine for 10 Points as #10 Women's Lacrosse Dominates #19 Florida Tech

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Wood sister's Sophia and Anna combined for 10 points and once again Holly Hill made program history as #10 Saint Leo women's lacrosse earns a dominant win over #19 Florida Tech. Hill had her fourth seven-point game of the season as she set another program record with 77 points in a season. The Lions improve to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in SSC play as the Panthers fall to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
 
Seven Lions combined for 17 goals as Anna Wood led the game with five and Sophia Wood and Grace DeWitt added another four goals each. Hill, Jana Nuss, Natalie Jones, and Briana Bellando accounted for the final four goals. Hill had six of Saint Leo's eight assists on the night. In the midfield, freshman Isabella Gebinini had seven draw controls to bring her season total to 94. In goal, Jessica Harclerode made six saves for her tenth win of the season.

It took Florida Tech just 24 seconds into the game to get on the board and just two minutes and 31 seconds into the game the Panthers doubled their lead.

Saint Leo countered with its first goal of the game as Anna Wood on a woman-up opportunity took a feed from Holly Hill and made it a 2-1 game.

After a response from the visitors, the Lions went on a 3-0 run with goals from Briana Bellando and Sophia Wood.  A pair of woman-up goals from Sophia Wood gave Saint Leo its first lead of the night, 4-3.

Florida Tech found the back of the net in the final minute of the first quarter to tied it at 4-4.

As the second quarter progressed the Lions and Panthers traded goals. Back-to-back unassisted Florida Tech goals made it a 7-6 game in favor of the visitors. Holly Hill connected with Anna Wood for the third time to send the game to a 7-7 tie at halftime.

Just as they had done in the first two quarters, the Panthers scored the first two goals of the quarter to take a 9-7 lead. It was at this point in the game the Lions took it away and turned a 9-7 deficit into a 15-9 advantage. Grace DeWitt scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 9-9. The next three goals of the game were scored by a Wood as Anna Wood's goal was sandwiched between a woman-down goal and even strength goal by her older sister, Sophia. Yes, Anna Wood's goal was assisted by Holly Hill.

With just seven seconds remaining in the third quarter the Panthers ended the run for the Lions making it a 15-10 score heading into the final 15 minutes.

In keeping with the theme of the night, the Panthers scored the first goal of the quarter cutting the Lions' lead to four. Goals by DeWitt and Natalie Jones helped raise the lead back to six halfway through the fourth quarter.

At the six-minute In the final five minutes of the game, both goalies made a pair of saves to keep the final five minutes scoreless.

Harclerode made her second of two saves in the final minute as she made a save on a free-position shot.

Saint Leo will honor its senior class of 2026 prior to Saturday's 2 p.m. match up with Palm Beach Atlantic. Senior day will take place at noon.
