VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Saint Leo baseball team lost on the road at Valdosta State in a single non-conference game on Wednesday evening by a 4-0 margin.
The Blazers claimed a 1-0 lead in the fourth following a solo homer to right field. Later on in the inning, Valdosta State extended its lead to 2-0 after a sacrifice-fly. An RBI-single to left field from the Blazers gave them a 3-0 lead to finish off the fourth inning. In the eighth, Valdosta State recorded a sac-bunt RBI as it mounted a 4-0 lead as it held Saint Leo at bay for the reminder of the game.

Matt Delph started and pitched 3.1 innings as he registered three strikeouts and surrendered two runs (both earned) on one hit and three walks. In relief, junior
Cian Phillips posted four strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work and only allowed one hit.
The Lions return to action on Friday, March 20 as they host Barry in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) series opener, starting at 6 p.m.
