SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team lost the series finale against Rollins by a 13-12 margin on Sunday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action.
The Lions mounted an early 2-0 lead in the first after senior
Thomas DeBrower scored on an error followed by junior
Abrahan Rios knocking in a run with a single up the middle. The Tars countered with a run in the third, however, the Green & Gold responded with a 10-run fourth innings that featured four RBI hits to lead 12-1.
By the sixth inning, Rollins trimmed its deficit to 12-6. In the seventh, the Tars cut the Lions edge to a 12-11 margin before taking the lead in the eighth.
On the mound, junior
Cian Phillips started for the Lions and pitched 5.2 innings as he struck out five batters and allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits, Phillips was dealt a no-decision.
The Lions return to action on Friday, March 6 as they host Roosevelt in a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
