SAINT LEO, Fla. – Despite a late-game surge, the Saint Leo baseball team lost 3-2 in its series-opener against Roosevelt at home on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
Entering the bottom of the ninth while trailing 3-0, senior Dylan Mass blasted a two-run homer to trim the Lions deficit to 3-2, however, a double play by the Lakers ended the game and the comeback from Saint Leo.
On the mound, junior Flynn Howard started and pitched 8.0 innings. He recorded eight strikeouts while allowing one run (earned) on five hits. In relief, freshman Parker Hohnsck pitched .2 innings and registered a strikeout while surrendering two runs (both earned).
The Green & Gold will conclude their series versus Roosevelt with a doubleheader tomorrow, Saturday, March 7 starting at 1 p.m.
