SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team completed the 4-game sweep of Colorado Christian with a 12-3 victory in non-conference game on Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead in the first, however, the Lions struck back quickly with four runs in the bottom of the first that was highlighted by a two-run double down the left field line. In the second, junior
Colton Musgrave drove in a pair of runs with a double to left field to give Saint Leo a 6-1 edge followed by sacrifice-fly from junior
Abrahan Rios, 7-1. In the third, senior
Ryan Jackson knocked in classmate
Thomas DeBrower on a single through the left side.
The Cougars cut their deficit to 8-3 after a homer in the fourth. Rios went yard in the sixth and extended the Lions lead to 11-3 before senior
Dylan Mass registered an RBI-single to bring senior
Roberto Odor across home plate.
On the mound, junior
Cian Phillips earned the win as he only allowed three runs (all earned) on eight hits with one strikeout in 6.0 innings of work. In relief, redshirt sophomore
Ricky O'Dette notched a strikeout in 1.0 innings.
