SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo rolled to a dominant 23-2 non-conference victory over Colorado Christian on Frida afternoon at Thomas B. Southard Stadium, with an offensive onslaught that was highlighted by a fifth-inning grand slam from senior infielder
Ryan Crivello.
The Lions set the tone early, exploding for eight runs on 10 hits in the bottom of the first inning to seize immediate control. Saint Leo followed with four more runs in the second and added another four in the fourth to build a commanding 16-1 lead through four innings. The big blow came in the fifth, when Crivello launched a grand slam to left field as part of a seven-run frame that pushed the advantage to 23-1.
Crivello finished with a monster day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with seven RBIs and the grand slam, while contributing consistently throughout the lineup. Redshirt junior
Camdin Jansen turned in a perfect 4-for-4 performance with three RBIs, and junior
Colton Musgrave added three hits, including a home run and a double, to drive in three runs. The Lions totaled 22 hits on the afternoon, with multiple players posting multi-hit games.
On the mound, junior
Flynn Howard earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the season, tossing six strong innings while allowing just two runs on six hits and striking out nine. Junior Will Shepard closed the game with a scoreless seventh inning, striking out two to seal the victory.
The Lions continue their series with Colorado Christian tomorrow, Saturday, February 7 with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
