SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team lost the second game of the series versus Rollins by a 10-8 margin on Saturday afternoon despite a late-inning surge by the Lions.
The Green & Gold fell behind by an 8-0 cushion, however, Saint Leo mounted a comeback in the seventh inning with an RBI-single by senior
Dylan Mass, 8-1. In the eighth, junior Jake Carillo knocked in junior
Abrahan Rios on a single to left field that ignited six runs in the eighth.
Senior
Thomas DeBrower tripled to center field a drove in a pair followed by Mass scoring DeBrower on a single through the right side. Junior
Camdin Jansen trimmed the deficit to 8-6 after an RBI-double to left center before senior
Ryan Crivello notched an RBI-single as the Tars only led by an 8-7 edge. In the ninth, Rollins scored two runs to extend its lead to 10-7. Senior
Amai Rivera-Martinez blasted a solo homer down the right field line, however, the Lions were heard at bay for the remainder of the game.
Freshman
Collin Lock started and pitched 3.1 innings as he allowed five runs (all earned) on five hits. In relief, junior
Jackson Wohlers pitched 4.0 innings as he struck out four batters while surrendering four runs (two earned) on five hits.
The Lions will conclude their series against Rollins with a single game tomorrow, Sunday, March 1, with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
